As a catalyst for innovation, BioscienceLA seeks to enable diversity, amplify science, and accelerate collaboration.

The BioFutures Program is a competitive program to connect students from historically under-represented backgrounds with subsidized internships and career development programming, designed to increase opportunities for students and companies year-round.

Interns gain further insight into the LA life science ecosystem:

  • a paid internship at an LA life sciences company (including biotech, medtech, and digital health companies and both technical and non-technical roles), subsidized by BioscienceLA

  • Mentorship opportunities with individuals from organizations like BCLA and Women in Bio

  • Networking events held both virtually and in-person at BioscienceLA’s Collaboration Hub in Culver City with ecosystem leaders and program alumni

  • an alumni program to stay involved and connected to the ecosystem and each other

Since launching in 2021:

  • 100+ internships funded by BioscienceLA (thanks to LA County Second District)

  • 8 full-time job offers to students at the end of their internship

  • 300+ students in the database actively seeking internships

  • 150+ companies looking/hosting interns
