A Brief Biography
Dan Witzling is the Interim Chief Operating Officer for Bioscience Los Angeles. He delivers high impact outcomes for partners by leveraging strategic planning, targeted communications and fundraising tactics, partnership development, diversity initiatives, and inclusive engagement practices. Dan has more than twenty years of experience in public affairs, public health and community service leadership roles. His work has ranged from local to international scopes to advance priority initiatives. Dan is a collaborator, a convener, a social impact producer, and an innovator in service delivery.
Dan has served as vice president with Elevate Public Affairs, providing strategic community and media engagement services to clients throughout California. He continues to specialize in public health, having previously served as the national managing director of DEI programs and the Los Angeles area executive director for the American Cancer Society for more than ten years. His prior leadership roles involved communications and fundraising for BREATHE Southern California, Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters, Cerrell Associates Inc., and The Jewish Federation.
Dan continues to serve in various community and public health leadership roles, including San Gabriel Valley Health Consortium, American Legion Hollywood Post 43, and Edison International CAP Program, to name a few. He has an MBA from American Jewish University, a BA in International Development Studies from UCLA, and continues as a lifelong learner. He is an avid long-distance runner, endeavoring weekly along the Santa Monica Strand. Dan is a longtime Los Angeles resident, happily married with two daughters and a dog.
