Kwame Ulmer is a Venture Partner at Wavemaker Three-Sixty Health, an early-stage venture capital firm, where he leads sourcing, diligence, and operational support for medtech and diagnostic investments. He developed a structured rubric for expert diligence used in evaluating companies with over $300 million in enterprise value.

Kwame brings more than two decades of experience evaluating medical technologies across government and private sectors, including senior operating roles within medical device companies. He has personally assessed more than 1,000 medical technologies and has extensive experience supporting companies in successfully engaging the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Previously, he served as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance at ImplantDirect, a Danaher Corporation operating company.

Kwame currently serves as Board Chair of the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania Foundation and Board Chair of MedTech Color, a nonprofit organization he founded to advance the representation of persons of color in the medical device industry. He is also a board member of Senseye, Inc., Essenvia, and California Life Sciences. In addition, he serves on the board of the University of Virginia Licensing & Ventures Group (UVA LVG), where he is Treasurer and Chair of the Audit Committee.

Kwame is a lecturer and researcher in medtech innovation at the University of California, Los Angeles, and also lectures at the University of Virginia. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Lincoln University and holds two master’s degrees from the University of Virginia, in Materials Engineering and Business Administration.
