A New Vision: BioscienceLA unveils phase of growth

Bioscience Los Angeles County Inc. — a catalyst for life sciences in Greater Los Angeles — has launched its new growth phase under the leadership of recently appointed interim chief executive officer Stephanie Hsieh.

An experienced leader with over 30 years in the biotech and biopharma industries, Hsieh will lead the organization as it accelerates investment and establishes Greater Los Angeles’ position as a mega-hub for bioscience innovation.

The new vision and branding for BioscienceLA were presented at BioscienceLA Week, showcasing the effort to position Greater Los Angeles as a global leader in biosciences.

This major industry convening of more than 500 thought leaders was Oct. 15 to Oct. 18, with events held across Los Angeles County, including sessions focused on workforce development, economic impact and innovation. The community summit celebrated collective progress in advancing the region’s bioscience ecosystem and established BioscienceLA’s future role in driving collaboration and partnership within the sector.

“The creation of BioscienceLA sent a strong signal from Los Angeles County government, industry and academia that Greater Los Angeles is committed to becoming a focal point for commercial biosciences innovation,” said Dr. Susan Windham-Bannister, chair of BioscienceLA and inaugural CEO of the Massachusetts Life Science Corporation.

“As chair of BioscienceLA’s Board of Directors, I am excited that we have completed our start-up phase and are now entering our growth phase under the strong leadership of Stephanie Hsieh. I have no doubt that over the course of BioscienceLA Week, it will become clear why Greater Los Angeles is stepping into the spotlight as the next global, bioscience mega-hub.”
